[ watches her look like she’s about to melt into the ground, implode and maybe fall off the chair in one go like— ]
… Sure, it’s not like I have anywhere else to be.
[ and now he’s concerned she’s about to give herself a panic attack. ]
You seem stressed.

[ he just looks at her like girl why do you think. ]
Do you know a way out of the circumstances we're in? I'm all ears if you do.

... Where are you planning on going?
[ OUTSIDE IS THE VAST EXPENSE OF NOTHING. ]

[ looks around
looks at her
makes a gesture with his hand. ]
Point me to them, then.

No, not really.
[ just gazes back. ]
But if you run yourself into the ground before we’ve even got anywhere or learned anything, then you really won’t be getting over the two foot hill.

Your best chance is when we have more of the ship to explore. Preferably the comm station. Or when we make land on one of these delivery planets, where you might be able to get your own message out to someone.

[ she’s persistent, he’ll give her that. ]
Sure. I don’t think you’re the only person making sure they know what’s where, and what’s what here. [ he’s not exactly been ignoring the surroundings either. ]
…
[ heh. ]
Good thing we have a whole galley and mess hall for exactly that, right?

Nothing that would get us out and off of here, no. I've just been exploring. Noting the weird stuff.
[ her bread trauma after all this death…. will she ever eat a panini again? ]
Hello.
[ given she’s tucked away in a corner like a little nervous animal, he won’t get all up in her business. he’s not sure he’d really want someone wandering and dropping themselves next to him right now either. ]
… Not quite how I expected this weekend to go.

You feel a bit like this is the last thing you want me to do.
[ he’s taking the seat anyway, because— well. if she’s said it out loud, he might’ve agreed with her, even if he wouldn’t have offered to be the person to stay. he’s not exactly a comforting presence.
but she offer, so— ]
I figured something would go wrong eventually, maybe not lethally, but this was beyond what I expected.

We’re in a pretty unique situation. I don’t expect everything to totally just go with the flow if something like this happens. [ he’s pretty chill, at the very least. but he doesn’t expect everyone else to be the same, even if he would recommend it. ]
I think the labour they want from us may be legit. But something’s sticking its nose in, in ways no one expected.
… If it wasn’t the nanites, it was something else. Not sure which I prefer as an option.

[ good news, he’s smoking. and looking at his IRIS because a lot is happening, jesus. ]
… [ oh. ] Yeah, maybe I should try and run into you early in the week so these meetings have less of a doom and misery element to them.
[ a sigh. ]
So. Again, then.
