But more than that, her verve and love of nature, I think, would suit quite well. She has an animal companion named Mahina that travels with us nigh constantly, and I've never seen her fail to befriend a single animal. Gigantic, legendary beasts of the earth included.

It was an accidental effect - caused by a dark mage who was utilizing the forces of both life and death to do something else entirely. The event itself occurred in Toto'haha, which is the most common place to find them now.

Oh! So now there's a whole nation for them. That's quite nice, actually! It's great to meet people who are different from yourself, but also important to have people you can relate to.

Yes, actually! So, Gerard is a prince, but he was cursed by a fairy when he was a little boy to become a frog, because he was "misbehaving" or something. [She rolls her eyes and speaks with a petulant ire.] As if that's a reasonable cause to ruin a little boy's life. Anyway, he had to be a frog for several years, and the only way to break the curse was with True Love's first kiss.
Which he got! And then, later, his marriage started falling apart so he...is becoming more and more froglike. Just man-sized this time.
That's a sort of running theme among us, actually. Undue punishment and curses.
