Love is one thing, but we're kind of expected to date different people at our age - at least in my world.

You know, I think that might be better? It's much less pressure than just having one person sort of...given to you. And then you have to make it work no matter what, which sometimes maybe it doesn't, but you still feel like you have to because they're supposed to be the one.
[taking a club and testing the heft in her hands. Interesting. Pity she immediately wonders if they'll be looking at a bloodied club this Saturday. Rosamund frowns and banishes the thought.]
...Well. I think it's nice to do things for yourself, first. I didn't always think that way, but I wasn't really given much chance, or reason to think that I could. [She pauses. Wets her lips and picks her phrasing carefully.] From when I was very young, I told my true love would come for me. That he would save me from a curse that was placed on me when I was born.
But...it was in a way where I wouldn't get to choose who that love is. They just had to be the one that broke the curse. And I just had to wait for them. And I was happy with that, I truly was! I thought that was all I would ever need, partly because it was all I was ever told I would need. And it would save me, and save my kingdom, and that was a good thing. So why would I question it?
[Stupid. Really, just naive to a fault. She lowers her gaze and clutches the handle of the club tight.]
Then life got just a bit more complicated. And I realized that in that version of my life, I would never get to make my own choices. Even if it could make me happy, it would have been something happening to me, without my say so, without even knowing who this man would be beforehand. So...yes. I think I do want time to myself first, now. And time to explore things. Even if it's more painful sometimes.

It is a lot of pressure - being handed something and just told to deal with it.
[ it’s hard to imagine being happy with that, but kazuki was always too headstrong. it isn’t a good quality, lately, but it got him to where he was, and up until his apparent death, it went quite well.
having your life dictated for you, though - that is a little too familiar. ]
Yeah. I understand. It was a little different for me, but… I know what it’s like, being told how your life will go without anyone asking what you think about it. So I think you’re on the track, figuring it out for yourself. It’s hard sometimes, but having a say in your own life will always be worth it, if you ask me.
